The PAN Live Art / Mural Project will take place on both days of the Festival, and maintains itself as an interactive venue for both artist and audience to inspire each other. The visibility of a community is directly linked to its arts, culture and creativity. This year’s Live Art / Mural project focuses on the urgency of raising public awareness about the role of the Arts in the visibility and identity of an ethnic people such as Filipinos within the multicultural tapestry of the United States. Artists are cultural ambassadors of the community. A picture is worth a thousand words, and this Mural Project will be a collaborative work of images by the participating artists—to give a visual voice to the theme Diwang Sumisikat —the Spirit of a CommunityRising. The culminating project will be the compilation of the artwork into an advocacy postcard to that will be sent out to mainstream audiences throughout the year. This effort will help to emphasize the importance of ARTS=CULTURE=COMMUNITY.
